Dear AIG Execs

Congratulations on those million dollar bonuses!  You must be so proud.  I mean, really, not many people on the planet can say they earned bonuses for depleting other people’s life savings.

I do realize you are not entirely to blame for the loss of my nest egg - you just lost most of it.

Now here we are six months later.  Instead of confidently planning on a farm loan with a 20% down payment, I will be lucky to have 10% down for an impossible to find loan, whereas you could just write a check to cover the whole thing.

Again, congratulations.

Sincerely,

Eryn, who is still dreaming of the farm, but not sure how to make it a reality.

oh, I’ll cross my fingers for you! Reminds me of when I was trying to buy my first house, I was waiting on the paperwork from our HR dept. but they were too busy getting my boss his bonus check so he could finish paying for his 6000sq ft. beach house vacation home! We almost didn’t make the deadline because of it.
The little guy always gets squished….I hope you find a way to get your farm!

So sorry, I have been reading your blog and felt happy for your wish of the farm. I have been holding my breath wishing the crisis would not intervene with your plans. Now I hope the banks will do the right thing, help those who have been good clients to them and for whom they lost money, that was only in their bank to make solid investments with, not to be Las Vegas-ed randomly, with a kind heart. I wish there finally will be put up an institution which hawkeyes the going-ons in the bankingworld in a proper way, so at least people who just save for their own future will be protected from crisis like this. Hoping all will turn out well for you in the end. A Dutch farm-villageborn (300 people) who is feeling for you and your anger and angst.
